Foil Boat Lab
How big of a boat can you make with a 15cm X 15cm piece of aluminum foil? Some students made a boat that had a volume of 250 cubic cm. Not only that, how much water would your boat be able to carry before it sank. The top boat was able to carry 260 grams. The unique thing about water is that it has a 1 to 1 ration in terms of volume to mass. So if the boat was able to hold 260 grams, that is 260 ml, is that possible when the boat has only a volume of 250? Maybe, you be the scientist, try it and find out.
