Christmas Break Nears

Happy Holidays everyone. Friday the 21st of December is the last day before vacation. We will have finished reading and taking notes for Chapter 7. The packet should be finished come that day as well. We have a new saying in Science class this term, "Failure is not an option." If a student is failing, they have to come in at lunch time to get extra help or extra time on their assignments with me. Well, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Winter Trimester Begins

Can you believe it? Thirteen weeks are already over for the school year, leaving 24 more to go. The first trimester grade reports will be sent home today, 12/12. We have had two assignments turned in and graded the last two days. The Chapter 5 packet and the R & R's. Almost 90% of the students have A's after these two assignments. Today, the students are doing the Book Assessment and then take the test tomorrow. On Friday, we will begin Chapter 7, with spellling words and reading 7-1.

Trimester Ends 12/6

The end of the first trimester is near. This Thursday, December 6th, is the end of the first grading period. We have done several assignments for Chapter 5 that will be on this terms grades, they are , 5-1 spelling test, Lab 5 Investigation, Epicenter Activity, Tsunami Lab, and all the notes.

Thanksgiving is Coming

Thanksgiving is coming in a couple of weeks. The week before we leave for break, the 4 days of school after Veteran's Day. The classes will be doing some science discovery and theory assignments. All students by Tuesday, November 13 will need to bring in an empty cardboard roll from toilet paper or paper towel, or something of that sort.

CHAPTER 4 "Plate Tectonics"

We are almost done with Chapter 4. The test for Chapter 4 will be this Friday. This Chapter has contained alot of information about the Earth and how the interior of the Earth effects the outside. The Earth is kind of like an onion, like Shrek, it comes in layers. The following assignments were done for Chapter 4, in order.

Chapter 3 "ROCKS"

How about the weather? We have already seen white stuff fall and it is only September when it fell. Well, without the weather we would not have much weathering of rocks. Rocks, that is what Chapter 3 is all about. So far, we have completed reading through section 3 of chapter 3. We have taken a quiz over the reading of section 2 and will have a spelling/vocabulary test tomorrow, so remember to study tonight.

Up and Running

Hello parents/guardians and students.
The 07/08 school year is up and running. We began the year studying Chapter 2 in our Earth Science book. Chapter 2 covers minerals and their growth. Every student learned about minerals, how they form, what they are used for, how to identify them, and every student also was able to make a crystal of their own.
